Drug Uses
Cefaclor (Cefaclor Chewable Tablets) is used for treatment of infections caused by certain bacteria.
How Taken
Use Cefaclor (Cefaclor Chewable Tablets) as directed by your doctor. Take Cefaclor (Cefaclor Chewable Tablets) with or without a meal. Chew the tablet thoroughly before swallowing. Cefaclor (Cefaclor Chewable Tablets) works best if it is taken at the same time each day. To clear up your infection completely, continue using Cefaclor (Cefaclor Chewable Tablets) for the full course of treatment, even if you feel better in a few days.
Warnings/Precautions
Before taking Cefaclor (Cefaclor Chewable Tablets), tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances, if you are allergic to any ingredient in Cefaclor (Cefaclor Chewable Tablets), if you have diarrhea, a stomach infection, or a blood clotting disorder, have phenylketonuria or you have had a severe allergic reaction to a penicillin antibiotic (eg, amoxicillin) or other beta–lactam antibiotic (eg, imipenem), if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breast–feeding. If you plan on becoming pregnant, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Cefaclor (Cefaclor Chewable Tablets) during pregnancy. Cefaclor (Cefaclor Chewable Tablets) passes into breast milk. If you are or will be breast–feeding while you are using Cefaclor (Cefaclor Chewable Tablets), check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby. Some medicines may interact with Cefaclor (Cefaclor Chewable Tablets). Therefore tell your doctor of all prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement that you are taking. Cefaclor (Cefaclor Chewable Tablets) is effective only against bacteria. It is not effective for treating viral infections (eg, the common cold). Long–term or repeated use of Cefaclor (Cefaclor Chewable Tablets) may cause a second infection. Do not treat diarrhea without consulting your doctor. Cefaclor (Cefaclor Chewable Tablets) contains phenylalanine. Cefaclor (Cefaclor Chewable Tablets) may cause false test results with some urine glucose tests. Elderly patients may be more sensitive to the effects of Cefaclor (Cefaclor Chewable Tablets).
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. However if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the Missed Dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
Possible Side Effects
Some of the Possible Side Effects are- headache, mild diarrhea, nausea, sinus infection, tiredness, vomiting. Contact your doctor if any of these or other side effects occur. If you experience any of the following serious side effects, you should seek medical attention immediately- allergic reactions (rash, hives, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue, itching), bloody stools, fever, seizures, severe diarrhea, stomach cramps/pain, urge to have a bowel movement, vaginal irritation or discharge.
Storage
Store Cefaclor (Cefaclor Chewable Tablets) at 68 – 77 °F (20 – 25 °C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Cefaclor (Cefaclor Chewable Tablets) out of the reach of children.
Overdose
If overdose is suspected seek medical attention immediately. Some of the symptoms of Cefaclor (Cefaclor Chewable Tablets) overdose are- diarrhea, nausea, stomach pain, and vomiting.
More Information
If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, contact your doctor. Cefaclor (Cefaclor Chewable Tablets) should be used only by the patient for whom it has been prescribed. Do not take less or more or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.

Bactrim (Contrimazole, Abacin, Bactin, Bactramin, Bactrimel) is an antibiotic combination containing a sulfonamide antibiotic and is used for treatment of infections caused be certain bacteria.
Keflex (Cephalexin) is used for treatment of certain bacterial infections. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Macrobid (Uritop, Alfuran, Cyantin, Cystit, Furadantin) is used for treatment of urinary tract infections caused by certain bacteria.
Biaxin (Clamycin, Synclar, Clathromycin, Klaricid, Prevpac) is a macrolide antibiotic, which is indicated for treatment of infections caused by certain bacteria.
Flagyl (generic) is used to treat different infections caused by amoebas and bacteria.
